Crochet Toddler Monster Hat Pattern

Crochet Toddler Monster Hat Pattern

My friend’s son just turned one. Of course I had to make him a cute little hat for his birthday. I saw a picture of my cousin wearing an adorable crocheted monster hat on Facebook the other day and I had been thinking about it ever since. When I saw my friend’s son dressed up as a character from Monster Inc for Halloween I knew I had to make a little monster hat.

I always check out patterns on Ravelry first but there was nothing like what I had in mind so I came up with my own design. I looked at a million other hats on Pinterest too for inspiration. I only used yarn I already had in my stash so that is what shaped the color scheme. I think this will be on the list to make for baby Lincoln one day. Right now he has plenty of hats so I will save it for a future project for him :)

H hook
J hook (for mouth)
Worsted weight yarn in navy, orange, green, white and red. I used a mix of Caron One Pound in navy and white, Loops and Thread Impeccable in orange, Red Heart Super Saver in red. I’m not sure where the green is from.

I actually got this hat to fit onto my head form so you can see how nice the spikes stick up.
