Quick and Chunky Crochet Ear Warmer Pattern

quick and chunky crochet ear warmer pattern

I took a quick break from my crochet fox scarf to make myself a new ear warmer. As I was stitching it up Mike asked how many of “those things” I have. I really only have two that I’ve made myself but I’ve given so many away as gifts he is starting to think I’m hoarding them :)

I have a teal one and a dark purple one but sometimes they can be hard to match. I really wanted one I could wear with any color shirt so I decided to whip one up really quickly to wear the next day. Ear warmers are typically pretty easy to make but I needed to finish this one in an evening (I started at 8:00 pm!) so I made up this simple pattern.

It only took me about one hour to complete using the big triple crochet stitch and super bulky yarn. Since it’s so easy maybe I need one in every color :)

Materials:
Super bulky yarn. I used Loops and Threads Charisma. (You can also hold two strands of worsted weight together to get a similar size)
K hook
Tapestry Needle
Abbreviations:
Tr: Triple Crochet
Sc: Single Crochet
Ch: Chain
Instructions:
Row 1: Ch 10. Sc in 2nd Ch from hook and each across. (9 Sc)
Row 2: Ch 3 turn. Tr in each stitch across (9 Tr)
Row 3: Ch 1 turn. Sc in each stitch across (9 Sc)
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until the piece measures one inch less than your head.
My head is 21 inches so I made mine 20 inches. You can also stretch the piece around your head to know when to stop. Remember the ear warmer is stretchy so that’s why you want it to be smaller than your head.
Fasten off with a really long tail and use it to stitch the two ends together. Weave in ends.
